Hello! As I mentioned on the home page of my website, I'm Webber. I'm the person who wrote, arranged, and styled the code that allows you to read this text.
As for who I am as a person, I like to keep that information somewhat private, seeing as this is the World Wide Web after all. But I can tell you a little bit about me:
Webbersite is the name I decided to give my little slice of NeoCities.
The name came from when I learned about NeoCities when I was younger. At the time, I was going though a bit of a "phase" (I think? That's the best word I can use to describe it.) where I started referring to certain personal things with some sort of pet name. Thus, the word "website" was corrupted into the word "webbersite".
Even after I grew out that phase, the name stuck out to me, and I decided to keep it instead of starting over with a new account.
Also, my alias, Webber, was created several months after I made my account. One day I woke up and realized that "Webber" was an actual name, so all I had to do was use it!
A screenshot from the oldest intact copy of Webbersite I have archived, from around April 2023. If you remember this, then hey, thanks for sticking around!
Like all creative works, the design for Webbersite came from many different sources. The dark color scheme, for example, came from a screenshot I saw of someone's Linux setup, which used this wallpaper. My logo, however, is totally original: I made it from scratch in Inkscape over the course of about a week.
When I was in the process of creating the logo for Webbersite, I tried to align the letters "WEB" horizontally in my vector graphics editor. However, I accidentally aligned them vertically, which put them on top of each other. I thought it looked neat, and I hadn't made a favicon yet, so I decided to keep the design.
My "sketchbook" of the Webbersite logo, with lots of color, layout, and perspective experimentation.
The stack of letters that formed the favicon I use can be seen on the right.
